BUFFALO COUNTY HEARTBREAKER

I had the privilege to hunt with the RRO crew during the 2021 season for both archery and rifle. The action was fast and furious, with the ability to see some great up and comers and plenty of mature deer. Personally, passed on double digit bucks that led to a shot on an older, goofy looking deer. It was my 5th encounter with him, and while it didn't end the way I wanted it is part of hunting. The guides and tracker used were top notch and helpful in trying to recover the deer after an arrow deflection.

The guides, Jason, Mike, Max, Jordan, and Jarrad were fun to be around in camp and made the experience enjoyable. The camp atmosphere is loose and inviting and the food that Maggie cooked up was absolutely delicious! We will be back for years to come and something we are looking forward to the calendar rolling back around to November! (pic attached, was a young up and comer)

Captain Jarrad and his team of professional guides are the some of the best in the industry. I started hunting with Jarrad 10 years ago and I have been coming back for both the great whitetail hunting but as well as the Walley and Perch fishing. What makes Jarrad one of the best outfits that I have been to is not only getting on some of the biggest Walleye of my life +28", or seeing +30 whitetail deer in a day sitting in the stands, it is his hospitality and willingness to share his knowledge to us avid outdoorsmen. For the past 3 years, I have been bringing my son and his friends on an annual fishing trip with Captain Jarrad. The past 2 years we have turned the trip into a father/son fishing competition where the boys fish with Captain Jarrad and the fathers fish on a 2nd boat (normally one of his guides). Jarrad has always been class act with the kids, teaching them different fishing techniques, how to drive a boat and navigate waters, and giving them an education that cannot be learned in a classroom. I would highly recommend RRO to anyone, young or old, male or female, experienced or not. The atmosphere that Capt. Jarrad provides will make it a great experience for anyone!

My brother and I were looking to try something different this past fall for deer season. We were ready to get off of the public lands and make something our "own". We started with looking for a lease, well that didn't happen. We started looking into outfitters and found Rutting Ridge Outfitters! Neither of us had been to an outfitter before so we were a little cautious going into the whole experience. He bothered Jarrad probably a lot more than most but we wanted to be ready for everything. We both hunted hard sitting all day everyday except one rain day. My persistence and the knowledge of Jarrad and his crew paid off big time with my biggest buck to date. It was great meeting everyone in camp and made some new friends along the way too. Needless to say the hunting and properties were great along with lodging and food which there was way too much of. A big thank you to Jarrad, Jason, Mike, Max, Jordan, and MagPie! Can't wait for bow season 2022!!!

we have not personally hunted with RRO but we have been fishing with jarrad many times on the river and lake pepin and also on lake Erie. he is a lot of fun to be with and his knowledge of the river is unbelievable , he works hard to put u on the fish and gives it his best out effort! if u are looking for a guide for a day on the water of the mississippi river lake pepin or lake Erie in the early spring we wouldn't recommend anyone else but jarrad , if u wanna learn the river or lake pepin he is the guy u want to learn from. he is truly a great fisherman and he is also now a good friend of ours. ! we are also looking to a hunt with him sometime soon at RRO. go Dawgs.

I've hunted with Rutting Ridge for the last 6 years. One thing you'll notice while in camp is most hunters are repeat customers, which should say a lot. Id say each year feels like a family reunion but I'd be lying, nobody in their right mind would want to see all of their family every year, it's much better than that. Lol. I've shot a buck every year I've hunted there and unfortunately I lost one due to a one lung shot. There's a lot of deer and good quality deer if you're patient. You can still have some slow days, but with patience you'll likely be rewarded with some very memorable days. He's always had good properties to hunt with many stand locations, and he doesn't start hunting until around October 20th which is nice because the deer aren't pressured or educated prior to prime time. If you're looking to try hunting Buffalo County, Rutting Ridge Outfitters should be a strong consideration.

I've been to Rutting Ridge several times over the last 10 years and am very pleased with Jarrad and all the guides who work there,all very informative on all properties to be hunted...Camp is always great to meet hunters from all over and food is amazing!All the properties have many stands to choose from and hold many bucks and does and several mature bucks. The day I shot my buck I saw 5 bucks and several doe,which were seen throughout the day and I shot mine at 130 in the afternoon which is another reason to hunt ALL DAY.never know. I give Rutting Ridge Outfitters 5 stars.

Buffalo County Whitetail Hunting

Hunted with RRO in 2019, great guys, great properties that they have a lot of history with and know how to hunt. We where not successful but we recognize, unlike a lot, that it's not a sure thing when you go to an outfitter. Food was good and plentiful as was the drinks. Word to the wise though it's not a place to hunt if your not hardy. All day sits are the norm. Up 2 hours plus before daylight. Long difficult walks into and out of stand locations. They do have some stand set up closer for older less active hunters but most are not. Good price and Jared is a nice guy. We plan on going back.

Unbelievable, the only word that describes hunting at Rutting Ridge. The morning that I shot my buck was without a doubt the best hunting experience of my life. I saw SEVEN different bucks along with a number of does prior to shooting this deer at High Noon. Two of the other bucks I saw were locked into an all-out brawl 100 yards up the ridge, and both of those were Bigger than the one I shot. Jarrod's guides know where the deer are and they put you on them. The lodging is exceptional, and the food is amazing. I would go every year if my wife would let me...

I booked a hunt with Rutting Ridge Outfitters out of Alma because I didn't have nothing I wanted shoot on camera at home. So Brett Hilger and I rolled the dice with these guys. I've never been on a outfitter hunt before but this place was top notch! Food absolutely awesome! Nice well kept and clean lodging! Didn't see large numbers of deer but lots of quality young bucks and some real nice shooters. Before I shot this buck I was hooked and coming back. Jarrad and his guides Mike Joe and Jason take care of you and are totally professional hunters. I've never been a fan of all day sits but on well managed property it alot easier knowing you got a legitimate chance of a booner or at least a real good buck coming by at anytime. Stands are comfortable and in pinch points and funnels right where they need to be in my opinion.

This was my 2nd trip with Jarrad, my 3rd trip for Fall of 2016 is in the works. An amazing place to hunt and experience. The energy in camp with Jarrad and the other guides is great, they really make you feel welcome and are glad to have you there and are willing to do as much as possible to make your trip a success. They have the same stuff you see on tv when it comes to deer hunting including numbers of deer and numbers of big bucks! Jarrad and another guest in camp showed me how to properly use rattling antlers, and boy did they work. I rattled in 12 bucks of various sizes including the 11 point 144 3/8" buck I was lucky to harvest on the last day of my hunt in the first 10 minutes of legal shooting time. It was my biggest buck to date! It's great to have multiple farms and stand setups to choose from. Jarrad knows how to set up for proper winds and will do everything he can to get you on a buck; including setting up another stand location. There's multiple big bucks on every property, and because he only takes a small number of hunters, the deer are very relaxed and seem like they've never been pressured! They even volunteered to get me a professional photo shoot of me and my deer! I really can't say enough about this place, they make you feel like it's your home away from home where your only duties are hunting, eating, and hanging out until your ready to go to bed. We had a fantastic time and although we didn't bag a buck we had tons of encounters and had deer all around us. When it comes to bagging a mature trophy buck there are a couple of very important factors you need to consider. First you need to hunt where big bucks exist, the more the better and second those big bucks can't be pressured. RRO's 140" minimum helps those big Buffalo County bucks become mature. RRO also helps keep those big bucks from becoming pressured by saving their stands until the last week of October arrives... primetime! While other outfitters begin running as many hunters as possible through their stands as soon as the archery season opens in mid Sept, RRO keeps their stands fresh for the best time of year to kill a monster buck. I first came to RRO as a client in 2010 and was so impressed with Jarrad's operation that I've returned every year since as a guide. My experience was amazing! I saw tons of deer every day, I witnessed two mature bucks fighting on November 28, 2014 just like the stuff you see on the hunting shows on tv. That morning in particular I didn't think the deer were ever gonna stop coming through, TONS of deer! Jarrad and Laura are the best hosts, I went by myself, came in a stranger, left feeling like part of there family! I've fished an hunted with RRO for several years now. Funny how the time flies when you're having fun. Several 8+ pound walleyes have been boated and I've had many close encounters with big +140 class whitetails. One thing that I've come to learn is prepare, prepare, and prepare some more because the bucks you'll see will make your knees wobble and your hands shake.
